Hi, I’m Sam — founder of BrightSpark.

For over 25 years I’ve been starting, growing, and sometimes selling businesses across the UK. From property to product design, handmade soap to tech innovation, I’ve learned first-hand what it takes to bring ideas to life, ride out the challenges, and keep momentum going.

And now? My spark is helping you find yours.

My Journey

  • At 19, I persuaded my parents to invest in a house near my office. I furnished it, recruited four colleagues as tenants, and kickstarted a property business that’s still housing people across the UK today — long before “HMOs” were a thing.

  • At 28, I left my corporate role in Sales & Marketing at BMW. I loved the work, but I’d outgrown working for someone else.

  • At 29, I launched a handmade soap company in Wales, supplying luxury products to the holiday cottage market. I sold at farmers’ markets, online, and even collaborated with BBC Wales and Gardener’s World. That business was sold on and is still thriving 16 years later.

  • At 32, I began an Open University degree that led me to develop a wearable hydration monitor for the elderly. I partnered with Swansea University and the Welsh Government before passing the project to a tech company — and graduated with a First.

  • At 41, I designed a sustainable range of bamboo hair combs, manufacturing and selling them across the major e-commerce platforms.

  • By 44, I admitted it openly: I’m obsessed with business.

Why BrightSpark?

I know how it feels to juggle big ideas, daily demands, and the constant pull to do more. I’ve felt the overwhelm, the setbacks, and the thrill of breakthroughs. That’s why BrightSpark exists — to help other founder-led small businesses cut through the clutter, find clarity, and build the momentum they need to grow.

I don’t just advise from the outside. I’ve been in the trenches, made the mistakes, and celebrated the wins. And I bring all of that to our partnership.

Personal Touch

When I’m not talking strategy or sparking new ideas, you’ll probably find me listening to a good crime thriller audiobook, propagating plants in my greenhouse, or enjoying quiet, meaningful moments with friends. I believe success isn’t just about business growth — it’s about creating space for the life you actually want.

Your business has the potential to do more than survive — it can thrive!…
